Nayitoshi - Fight for the Skyline

Nayitoshi – Fight for the Skyline is a turn-based strategy city conquest eroge!

The discovery of a mysterious new energy source within an archipelagic city-state ushers humanity into an unprecedented golden age. Scientific advancement accelerates at a staggering pace: incurable diseases are eradicated, clean and efficient power reshapes global industry, and technological innovation transforms daily life. Once considered a minor player on the world stage, the microstate rapidly evolves into an emerging economic powerhouse, its city becoming a thriving mega-metropolis home to millions. Yet as its influence grows, so too do envy and apprehension beyond its shores. In the shadows, rival factions and clandestine interests quietly set their plans in motion, each seeking to seize control of the power that could shape humanity’s future.

An Organized Crime & Interpersonal Warfare Simulator, in Nayitoshi the player is put in charge of an organization operating outside of the law with the intention of expanding their influence in a place where every alley has a secret and every secret has a price.

This city that never sleeps and speaks in lies, bullets, and sirens.
The time to seize it has come!
Bash, trash, smash!

Gameplay

This mega-city is yours for the taking and in order to accomplish this mission, as the boss you need to effectively manage resources, hire new talent willing to work for you, increase your influence as well as territory via extortion and engage enemy faction members in urban combat. Getting to the top will cost you lots of money which can be earned in multiple ways such as resorting to robbery, building estates which will generate a cashflow or making bank with prostitutes you’ll hire. Additionally you will need to keep faction members happy and their loyalty in check, socialize with characters and deal with strange figures of the night …!

Stories are told in the way of a visual novel while the gameplay is divided into two main parts:

The Strategic City Phase

Here is where you’ll do the actual conquering of the city by moving troops between districts and giving orders to characters. Said orders consist of things like robbery, extortion, training for extra XP, doing sex work, recruiting new troops and starting fights with enemy gang members. On the city map you’ll have an overview of your territory and its districts in which you can build new estates which offer a wide variety of bonuses.

The Action Phase

Is used to spend points to perform a wide variety of actions, such as triggering event scenes, meeting other characters to do social activities with them, paying out faction member benefits and also checking on your relationships with everyone. There never are enough points to do everything, so tough decisions will need to be made and some things prioritized over others. This is also the phase where people will come to you on their own and talk to you or ask to go out – if they like you enough.

Features

  • Run your own lawbreaking empire and take the city bit by bit until you ultimately assume full control.
  • The player character’s name can be customized, as well as their text color in visual novel scenes. Furthermore, the player can either play as a male, female or futanari. H scenes in which the player character is part of will adapt accordingly (check screenshots for an example).
  • Hire unique characters to strengthen your troops and find out more about them by advancing their storylines. Each character is different and has their own personality. The social activities they like to do, how easily they trust somebody, things that affect their loyalty – it all differs from character to character.
  • Additionally each character has their own sets of stats and abilities. Some might be good at extortion, others have business skills or are good at staying stealthy. Giving the proper jobs to the proper person will bring you closer to victory. Characters which are willing to work in the sex industry also have another whole set of sex stats and abilities.
  • Build different kinds of estates in your districts which grant a variety of bonuses and resources. Manage said resources which consist of things like money, ammo and influence to keep your operations going. Pay your faction members when payday comes around and feel the consequences if you can’t afford to do so.
  • Socialize with characters to increase their relationship levels. Many of these levels exist, such as “Friends”, “Enemies”, “Fuck Buddies” or “Lovers”. Having one of the latter two will increase your maximum points to spend in the Action Phase, so start smashing.
  • Engage in urban combat in the open streets, alleyways, parks or even highways. Battles are turn-based and many factors come into play, such as troop counts, character stats, affinities as well as ammo count. Run out of bullets and it’ll be a bleak night.
  • Fight against law-abiding citizens, housewives with shotguns, ex-martial arts master seniors, enemy gang members and even otakus.
  • Level up your characters by spending their hard earned points on a wide variety of different stats and abilities.
  • The game is very modding friendly and a lot of things can be modded such as graphics, music, visual novel textboxes, estates and more. You can even mod in your own characters with their own storylines, events and scenes.

R14

The main focus of this update was it to update, polish, fix and change some things about the City Conquest mode which had its initial release in the version prior, as well as include some requested QoL features and event scenes for the new enemy characters. Under the hood there have also been some changes and modifications made to the enemy AI.

Starting with new QoL features, the “HUD” subsection of the options menu now contains two new options:

Display Training Bars” allows squads executing the “Training” order to be exempt from showing a progress bar at the start of every turn. Over time, this can potentially get annoying when every turn these bars show up, just to be filled by a tiny amount when the character doing the training is already at a high level.

New Turn Camera” allows to set the behaviour of the camera at the start of every turn. There are three possible options:

Last Squad: Is the standard camera behaviour which has been used up to now.
Headquarters: Once all squads are done with their orders, the camera will jump to the district which contains the faction’s HQ.
Previous: The camera’s position will be saved before the start of a new turn and will jump back to these coordinates once all squads are done with their orders.

Moving on, the “Audio” subsection now has a new toggle:

As it says on the tin, this can disable the level up music that plays during that screen. Some players reported that this would get very annoying over time, so I hope that this will solve the issue.

The City Conquest setup screen also has a new addition:

Starting Money“, as one might imagine, sets the starting funds for every faction. While increasing this can make the game start easier, the CPU will also benefit from this. The max. starting amount is 20.000$ and it can be reduced down to 2.500$, if one wants a challenge.

Up next, the “News” tab of the Action Phase now has its “Crime” subsection enabled.

Between every Action Phase the game will log every battle that has taken place and will then list said battles on this screen. Taken into account are the type of battles (either if it was Gang vs. Independents, or Gang vs. Gang), as well as the type of district the battle took place at (Suburbs, City, Highway etc.). Clicking on the “Go To Map” button will display the district in question on the city map. This can serve as a useful source of information for the player and in future updates the “News” tab will report on even more things.

R14 also includes two battle defeat events, for Amelie and Riya respectively. Just like with the Camino Vipers during the Introduction Mode, these events can be unlocked by defeating a squad that these characters are the leader of.

New Content

– Added a Amelie Event.
– Added a Riya Event.
– Added the “Crime” subsection to the News Tab which reports about every battle that happened between Action Phases.
– Added a toggle in the HUD section of the options menu to either enable or disable progress bars for characters doing training.
– Added multiple choices in the HUD section of the options menu for cameras to scroll to specific parts of the city map once a new turn begins.
– Added a toggle in the Audio section of the options menu to enable or disable music during Level-Ups.
– Added an option in the conquest setup screen which sets the amount of funds that factions start the game with.

Changes

– Updated Visual Novel System, textboxes can now display any name of a faction belonging to the player.
– Updated Event System with new trigger options, new event conditions now contain checking if characters are part of a squad or if a character is a squad leader.

Clean Up

– Cleaned up some writing errors in the “Neon Bunny Zone” event.
– Fixed a Bug which would display a character’s HP and Stamina in the Waiting Room even if the character is a Non-Combatant.
– Fixed a Bug which would allow removing the final squad in the tutorial by causing a police crackdown in the enemy HQ district, thus softlocking the player out of the ending.
– Fixed a Bug which would cause a softlock in the pre-battle screen if the AI decided to attack.
