User account system is currently in public beta testing phase. Bugs, inconsistencies and features not working as intended are to be expected.
The coding is different for early episodes/chapters, it would take a monumental amount of time and effort to sync everything. Thus, slowing down the bi-monthly updates.

I don't know what problem you're going through with the game. If you're getting traceback errors, then it means that there were complications during the installation. Need to reinstall the files again. If it doesn't work, then do the following.
I'll suggest doing a complete wipe of this game and backing up your saved files. Then reinstall the game and try it out. If it works, then that's good. If you used the Taboo patch on previous parts, then install it as well.
Don't download the update patch files every time a new update is released. Instead, download the whole part again. Reapply the taboo patch after. I stopped downloading the update patch files, because 50% of the time, it works. So, I went with downloading the whole part again. Problem solved.

Are you ok? These parts are different parts, each continuing the game's story.
Why not download the game 6 times? But you still proceed to download hundreds of updates for many games.
