at the start, try to unlock Luna the futa maid, as her (or his?) passive of gaining more exp is overwhelmingly better than the rest. Also, do try to unlock the passives, if you want to get far. Especially Vampaura. Lifesteal is one hell of a tool in this game.
Stats to go for: atk speed, max hp, damage. Size of the attacks only really matter for AOE weapons, and those are very slow, so you're better off unlocking them only as the extras when progressing in the game.
Bad news however: on stage 4, when the ghost mobs keep coming, even at 30 hp, I got oneshot, so it's a massively painful place, and I have no dubt that the only way to get through it is to not get hit.
