User account system is currently in public beta testing phase. Bugs, inconsistencies and features not working as intended are to be expected.
Ensure your save folder is not of the type hidden , check write permission to it. When copying to a new version of the game, only copy the file*.rpgsave and global.rpgsave files. There was a config.rpgsave file in mine that was messing things around for me.

There a crack on the wall when you remove the bush, click on it and use pick axe.
You need the pickaxe to break the wall behind those bushes
