You have to get Anna the spider and take it to Dean to scare her. There's a bug in this version that makes you cannot pass the spying on director's room quest.
So, first delete all the save files and the game folder, then go back to 1.3.0 if you have one and play until you pass that quest, then you can switch back to 1.4.0, the saves are still compatible up to that point.
Also an important thing, in 1.3.0 the store is broken, but you can simply solve it by copying file "storint.rpy" in the game folder (may not be the exact same name, but it's not "store.rpy") from ver. 1.4.0 to 1.3.0 game to solve this problem.
