Are there any other download links? Whenever I try to use mega upload it asks if I want to open it in the app. I check yes and instead it takes me to the play store to download the app I already have.

The only way. The web interface first downloads into browser cache and dies on large files, sometimes it hangs and there's no way to resume. Mega Downloader never fails.

Maybe it depends on more things that I can thinks of, but normally nowadays they are blocked directly when getting the size of the requested file if it's too big.
