IIRC Episode 8 - whenever it comes out - is supposed to be abut Sam. It'll likely happen then.

No. The Developer was MIA for a bit, and his Patreon account was shut down. He's up on Subscribe Star now, and posts sometimes on Discord.
The team split up. The original dev is still working on this, while other members of the team have formed Stray Dream Games, and are working on a separate project with the same characters set several years after this one.
Development on this game was always slow, and it doesn't look like it'll pick up any time soon. Also, the long-awaited Sam-centred episode has been put off one more time.
Frustrating, but not abandoned.
Chapter 8, Part 2 has dropped. Version 1.0. Normally that means a finished game, but not in this case.

Is it just me who misses the old build's sex scenes? They felt more like it came from the actual cartoon. Now, it's clearer, but janky. Besides that, if they make more scenes with Maddie, I would love this game even more. Story is OK too. The other characters are fine, but I'm sorry. Maddie ALL THE FUCKING WAY! I'll even pay for a game with the old scenes style with Maddie only. I barely pay for any of these games, but Maddie is my type.
Episode 8 part 1 was so good. Things were getting really good with Maddie. Ember and Spectra had a whole thing going. A couple years pass and... 8 part 2 is a disappointment. Can someone please get GZone to go back to the episode 8 character designs in the sex scenes? Maddie's anal scene is sooo good. Just use that model again. Idk what he did, but Maddie looks messed up.
