If the dev wanted to tease us, he should post what version he is on somewhere visible on his site. I understand the desire to make people pay but a little unpaid advertisement might boast sells.
Personally I think devs would make more money with delayed releases. Sure the majority will go the free route but what motivation do people have buying an unproven product of an unknown developer. Its almost like someone trying to sell porn on the internet with no samples. Skipping in 3,2,1..
