Try DAZ studios or DAZ 3D (something like that). The program is free. Some of the content is free.
Renpy is used for a lot of the game stuff and a lot of the programing on the backend is Python (both are free also). Messing around with DAZ is fun but you will quickly realize these Devs put a lot of time into crafting each screen. I never did figure out lighting. My scenes were either too dark or the people bleached out. If you have a photography background, I think it will help. goodluck
I agree, I quickly got used to Ren'py but when it came to the artwork, i was totally out of my depth, and eventually gave up!
I don't think they use DAZ 3D, maybe they use something else because the light in there is crap, my guess would be Unreal engine or another engine that does great light and quality render
Most use Ren'py for the programming which uses Python language, is completely free and very user friendly. Daz3d for artwork is popular

I had really thought in the last version that this game was just useless cocktease but when I played this version, the quality went up a lot. The scenes, the dialogues and the theme altogether, the game has great potential. But the update took a lot of time. I hope the next one comes soon.
