The game "Imperial Bureaucracy Hero" is a dystopian Disco-inspired adult VN setting you in the shoes of a mid-level official taking turns exploiting, torching, or succumbing to the bureaucratic madness of a dying sci-fi regime.
There are no cults or apocalyptic end-times - only the gears of the world turning and crushing men in their wake. The impossible task of fixing this faltering machine isĀ yoursĀ - but who's looking if you bang a few women in between the dotted lines?
This is not the story of a superhuman warrior or righteous fanatic; you're a servant of the paperwork and red tape it takes to run an empire of a million worlds. It's your job to cut through that horrifying mess - resolve disputes, fix problems, listen to angry people. It'sĀ notĀ your job to have sex - but that can happen as you meet people from every walk of life in the vastĀ Imperium d'Espoir et de Deuil. Lonely guards on empty fortress walls, bored scribes underneath the halls of power, and everywhere in between.
Don't grind! There is not a single moment of grinding. You're a reasonably high-ranking official of the organization that runs everything - you don't need money. Your word is better than money. There's a reason some folks try and bribe you with sex and not fat stacks of cash.
Choose your traits! Are you a schizophrenic empath? A paranoid bureaucratic genius? A nihilistic manipulator? Try and do your job. Endure your horrible empire. Serve the God Emperor. Meet interesting characters. Bang some of them.
Or just do your job and play literal Bureaucracy Simulator. You can do that. The sex is optional. Service to the empire isĀ not.
Gameplay
In the far and dark of a mourning millennium...
Craft your perfect bureaucrat by choosing your MIND FACETS. Become a paperwork god, a bleeding heart, a self-serving striver, a paranoid wreck, or a dangerously insane man - or some combination of the above.
Run around and talk to people. There's no money, no affection meter, no grind - just dialogue and meaningful options that greatly change your story and the stories of those around you.
Resolve disputes: talk to folks, learn about the problem, accept or reject 'bribes', then make your decision. That's what your job'sĀ supposedĀ to be.
Meet random people. Learn their story. Commiserate about the misery of living in the Imperium of Hope and Mourning. Bang them?
Help people. Hurt people. Hurt people by trying to help them, help them through trying to hurt others.Ā Get sucked in toĀ side-stories that far exceed the responsibility of your job. Rub shoulders with scheming nobles and dodge bullets fired by desperate men. Live your life, touch the lives of others, and soak in the world around you; it'll be quite a ride.

I don't like AI art, if only because of ethics, but at least this doesn't look as bad as most AI slop.
There's nothing ethically wrong with AI art. It's just automating a process, no different than automating car manufacturing. Evaluate the product on its own merit.
Automated car manufacturing cost many jobs, resulting in political changes in several countries, that IS an ethical question. The inflationary use of AI is absolutely going to cost many jobs, that's an ethical question per se, dude.
Basically I agree. no need to get into political debates about AI, but even at rudimentary level the so-called artists claiming their text-to-image generated pix are THEIR ART is just preposterous.

If someone must do AI slop because they lack the talent to make original art... couldn't they at least do better AI slop?
no; if they did then it wouldn't be authentic because you would have a nice life instead of an awful, pointless one in the grim dark of the far future.

I liked it. Had that hopeless 40k vibe. Only issue was that the scenes themselves only had 1-2 images.
For everyone that dislikes the use of AI, there's a toggle in there to turn it (mostly) off. I felt the models were better with the AI assist, but if you have an issue with it, it's there.
I love that this is just the Imperium of Man from 40k with the names changed. High Gothic is changed from a bastardized version of Classical Latin to French, the Adeptus Mehcanicus of this world uses Greek, people working 18-hour shifts are considered lucky, etc.
