Did you get the security card from the guy that is sleeping on the chair on second floor yet? If not go get it. You access a room where you will find how to use the screwdriver. About the boots, i am not sure what you mean "are not fit to take" but you can always use the Hint option offered by game
To access the Hint, you need to go into your phone, then hit options then Hint.
