Do I have to start the game from the beginning? Can someone upload his *.save files in a dropbox? (they are in a folder named renpy in User folder)

make sure that you keep the out of date version of the game and save from your last point and then download the new update from here and load your latest save and you should be good, that's how I always do it and it works.
