I will go for that with much more open mindset but still, if it's unreasonable, it will put me off. Let's see.
I gave it a try. To be honest I wasn't bothered with how MC acted till episode 2 I think. To dig the story and enjoy immersion, suspension of disbelief is required. I, for one couldn't believe how almighty, powerful Aine's family/mother is. There were some conversations which felt very unnecesary, forced, too long to get to the point, over sharing, simply, not natural or well written. Feelings weren't explored with proper pacing and MC's behavior or thoughts were strange and inconsistent.
Emma being slave/servant, Aine's mother being almighty to say "I am the law", stupid idea of proclaimed genius girl who is investigator for Aine to marry MC (guy she has crush on since childhood btw) and other stuff really are taking away from cool music, certain mood, cool renders, beautiful girls and overall great idea. It could be written way better so player could immerse himself and have great experience.
This definitely isn't simp or cuck MC but he is... strange? To say the least. I really hate how he goes saying to Gwen, oh you shouldn't smoke cigarettes, they cause lung cancer and shit... Holy shit man, how cringe are you? Is it how you interact with people? I am pretty sure she know what she is doing. Another thing, being drunk, walking through the school corridor? Tons of fanservice with cosplay, anime/japan stuff too. You can be more subtle. If it doesn't add to experience, don't do it.
Dev: About pacing or small talk, you could learn thing or two from Sunshine Love. MrDots might be bad at filling content with meaningful story (Daughting my Daughter, Melody) but he is good at being natural with conversation, having good pacing for relationship and creating believable character behavior. Sunshine Love is solving these issues I mentioned and does what it does the best even better than last time.
