Why does the Mac version just make you start over from the beginning with different graphics? I can’t continue from where I left off it? Any ideas?

so MC does a thing to protect his mother and sister from his horrible abusive father, only to become just like his father (only worse). I understand that the MC is actually crazy, but I feel sorry for the mother, she has the worst children in the world.
