In "S.H.E.L.T.E.R. - An Apocalyptic Tale," Winterlook Games masterfully weaves a gripping narrative of survival, hope, and human connection in the face of catastrophic despair. The game is set 20 years after a devastating nuclear disaster that ravages the world, leaving only a select few to navigate the treacherous landscape.

As the mayor of your self-sustaining settlement, you must balance the needs of your citizens with the ever-present threat of radiation and resources depletion. Your decisions will not only shape the lives of your people but also influence the fate of humanity itself.

Amidst the ruins of civilization lies an opportunity for romance, corruption, and seduction. With a cast of 10 intriguing characters, each with their own secrets and motivations, you'll have the chance to forge lasting connections or exploit them for personal gain.

Beneath its post-apocalyptic faƧade, "S.H.E.L.T.E.R." is a story of human resilience and vulnerability. It's an exploration of what it means to be alive in a world devoid of hope. With over 100 steamy sex scenes, you'll experience the full range of emotions that come with living through such a traumatic event.

The game's open-world setting allows for experimentation, exploration, and role-playing. As your character, you must navigate the harsh realities of life without shelter or food. You might find yourself scavenging for resources, trading with other survivors, or simply trying to keep your people alive.

Will you choose to romance, exploit, or help others? The fate of your settlement – and that of humanity – rests in your hands. "S.H.E.L.T.E.R." - An Apocalyptic Tale - is a thought-provoking experience that will challenge your perceptions and leave a lasting impression on the world of adult visual novels.

The game is still buggy enough to be unplayable, even after the fix for the 0.24 update. This makes me a sad fucking panda. šŸ™

What did 2.4 fix exactly? I can't even play it due to crashes.

So i transferred my old saves over as per usual but when i tell it to load my last save this pops up:
I'm sorry, but an uncaught exception occurred.

While running game code:
File "renpy/common/000window.rpy", line 98, in _window_auto_callback
_window_show()
File "renpy/common/000window.rpy", line 60, in _window_show
renpy.with_statement(trans)
TypeError: a float is required
And then its got a full trace back log underneath. Anyone know how to fix it?

Likely unpatchable.
But try playing without the Taboo Patch (Assuming you are), I'm going to try that in a bit, since the IP says 0.23, so that might be the issue.
(I tried starting a new game, couldn't even get past the first message)

YEP. The Taboo Patch is what breaks the game at this moment.

Taboo Patch needs to be updated, it's currently causing the game to crash when "playing".
(New save, old save, doesn't matter)

The updates and lack of story progression is making this game all less than worthy of my attention. I hope that this changes.

The changelog isn't showing everything that is new.
There's 2 new scenes for the mechanic, and 2 scenes for a new female (Monster girl?).
Along with probably a couple other scenes for the main girls (Mother & sisters), not sure though since I hadn't fully unlocked the Gallery pre-0.24.

Btw, you should be grateful there even are updates. Plenty of games just get abandoned shortly after release.
People like you contribute to developers deciding to just not update anymore.

If even light criticism like this is enough to make a dev call it quits, then they absolutely should.

(To add to the above, patreon is taken by way too many creators as carte blanche to do whatever the fuck they like with no regard to what they owe to the people supporting them. Calling them out on lack of progress even while they continue to take their patrons' money is absolutely warranted in many cases.)
