If you do a very difficult thing like clicking on "Info" that you can find next to "Overview" right obove the info text about the game, you may discover the answer to your question there. Amazing what you can do if you click on Info, right? Smh.

In the walkthrough file, it says "(After getting gear back it's possible to leave the village with the orc, then backtrack to the broken stairs
and escape through the skeleton)". What skeleton? There's a pile of skeleton bones and there's a trading skeleton. Which one? And how do you escape through a skeleton?
