The sex is very vanilla, but the writing is excellent. If you're here for the sex, this game is not so good. If you're here for the writing, it's much better.
Is there any gay/futa/MMF content?
If so, is it easily avoidable, like in Summertime Saga? So that you can't stumble into it by accident?
I don't want to be ambushed with unexpected transgender dick in my face, without warning, like in "Tales From the Unending Void" and "Lunar's Chosen."

So I've played more than half the game, and it looks like there's not any gay/futa/MMF content to worry about.
Well, there is that minor character Shivantas, whose form is like opposite-sex Siamese twins. You could call that "futa," since her-and-his dick is out in the open.
The writing is excellent, exceptional. But it's depressing. I hope the ending is happier than it looks like it might be.
So far (halfway through), the sex scenes are vanilla and bland. Even my emotional attachment to the characters isn't enough to get me aroused during the sex scenes. I'm playing this one for the story, but it would be better if the sex had more options.
The first time I had to "let go" a girl, it was sad, and now it seems like a bad idea to get even more attached to the girls (and them to me) by fucking them. So now I'm mostly avoiding the sex scenes altogether, when possible, for story reasons.
But the real big problem is the broken "paths." I had this same problem with the author's other AVN, called "Now and Then." At some point, due to a bug, the game thinks I've fucked someone I didn't, and so I get locked into sex scenes with her from then on. And they talk about scenes that didn't happen, because I'd taken the other route and got different scenes.
Well, without spoiling it, the end isn't exactly sad. Bittersweet, maybe, but it's not as depressing as it looked like from early in the game.
After finishing it, my main complaint is that the ending is all autopilot. The only choice is which girl you choose to marry and start a family with. You don't get to choose what your character decides for the fate of the world. You don't get to choose NOT to have kids. Well, unless you choose not to be with any of the girls at the end. So there's that, I guess.
The only other major flaw in the game is the broken paths, described in the previous comment.
It's a shame, because the writing quality is so good, I want to give the game 5 stars. But those two big flaws drop it down some.
