The issue is that the dev is doing a bait and switch. he started out with normal stuff. and then once he got his supporters, switched gears to their gay stuff
RPGM is totally a problem. Making an RPGM game that drastically alters the core mechanics to not suck is very very hard. But, you can still make things a little better or a little worse within the confines of the system. And this specific game does its utmost to make things as bad as possible within the confines of RPGM.
