I have no idea what’s happening in this game and it’s story, don’t know where it’s going or where the fuck it’s been. This game is too complex and confusing for me to keep bother with it. Might come back to it if there’s a walkthrough that explains this games complicated story.
Basically, Karlie lives in the far future where there isn’t enough room on earth’s surface to support most of the human race. So most of them, Karlie included, live in a series of matrix style simulations, with their real life bodies stored in stasis , and each time she starts a new simulation her memories from the previous one are wiped. She’s waiting for one of two things, either a real life on the surface with a tiny proportion of humankind, or on one of earth’s new space colonies
A bit more information. ‘Nanos’ developed in the latter part of the 21st Century, mean that humans are now effectively immortal. This caused the human population to skyrocket to the point where human life was unsustainable on the surface, and the planet suffered tremendous ecological damage. So most people’s bodies are now preserved underground in stasis pods, and live out their lives in extremely sophisticated computer simulations.
These simulations have similarities with the real lives they actually lived before they went into stasis. Because many of the people they knew in real life, especially close friends and family, appear again and again, but subtlely different in appearance and in different kinds of relationships. But every simulation is different, allowing individuals to experience different kinds of lives and be different kinds of people. To make immersion total, all memories from other simulations are removed.
The ecological damage on the earth has now been reversed by technology, and it is now a paradise. To keep it that way, only a tiny proportion of mankind is allowed to live there. These are chosen on a rota basis, and are allowed to live out a full life (approx 100 years ) before returning to stasis. The long term solution is to create space colonies by terraforming planets in other solar systems, where individuals can live real lives forever

Ok, then this game need Sci-Fi tag. The dev should have started the game with the route choice instead of adding it 1,5 year or so after the first release. To me it seems like the dev lost interest in the original story and decided to add other routes just to keep it interesting for themselfs.
I must admit when I started this update, the ‘Zombie Apocalypse’ was the last place I imagined we’d end up. After the last update’s crazy change of direction into a sci-fi matrix type future, I really should have known it wasn’t going to be straightforward. I guess the third simulation will be even madder? But amazingly I’m still interested to see where this game will eventually lead.
