The (generous)people that decided to back up the project and support the creator shouldnt go empty handed, so the creator offers a beta for them.
You dont have to pay 10$. Its quite generous of the Dev (Especially since the world of indie devs is really rough) to put up the game for free and they are still getting shamed for offering something to the supporters?

normally you pay people to beta test or have a free open beta, never heard of making people pay you to beta test your game?
